After Life's design is inspired by the idea that life is full of small adventures that often go unnoticed. Pratyay wanted to create a space that encourages patrons to take wrong turns, talk to strangers, and open unmarked doors. The restaurant's design is a celebration of life's joys, sorrows, and the tiny things that often go unnoticed.
The restaurant's unique properties include an entrance themed as a gallery way with a wall made to feel like a mountain wall, a driftwood tree trunk in the entrance foyer, and picture portraits of different people with varied facial expressions hanging from the ceiling. The centerpiece of the space is a bar carved out from a stone wall, symbolizing the ever-evolving nature of life.
After Life is constructed using earthy and rustic materials to match its strong conceptual note. Fibre reinforced plastic was used for modeling the stone walls, and a rustic Indian sandstone was used for flooring. The flooring has been done in a slightly random pattern with large gaps/grooves between the stones to give a look of certain randomness in uniformity.
The restaurant covers a space of 500 Sq.mt. with an additional 150 sq.mt of open balcony attached. The design process started in November 2019 and was inaugurated in March 2019. The project was a challenge in terms of choosing the right materials to match the envisioned design, but the result is a unique and awe-inspiring space that offers a unique dining experience.
After Life is more than just a restaurant; it's a journey into a world of missed opportunities and tiny adventures. It's a reminder that life is always evolving, and that each passing moment is an opportunity to create the future. This unique concept has earned Pratyay the Golden A' Design Award, a testament to his creativity and innovation in the field of interior design.
